Port Houston modernises EDI and Database platforms
DSP, through its subsidiary DSP America, has signed an agreement with Port Houston to support the processing and maintenance of its Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) messages and database systems.

Port Houston, the busiest container port on the US Gulf Coast, uses the Navis N4 Terminal Operating System (TOS) to manage container operations.

EDI messaging is integral to this system, facilitating coordination with US Customs, shipping lines, railroads, and other stakeholders.

Under the agreement signed on 20 February, DSP will manage Port Houston’s EDI messaging infrastructure and provide ongoing database support.

The services aim to maintain reliable communication with global partners and ensure continuous freight operations.

Marco Fehmer, President of DSP, said: “With our global presence and ‘follow the sun’ support strategy, we are committed to delivering top-tier solutions that enhance operational efficiency.”

The collaboration supports Port Houston’s long-term goal of becoming the most efficient deep-seaport on the US Gulf Coast.

By utilising DSP’s terminal technology expertise, the port aims to enhance freight mobility, environmental performance, and economic impact.

Ryan Mariacher, Chief Port Operations Officer at Port Houston, stated: “This new collaboration helps ensure smooth and secure communication with our partners around the world, supporting the fast, transparent, and efficient movement of cargo through our terminals.”

In April, Port Houston handled 387,478 TEUs at its public terminals—a 20 per cent increase over April 2024 and a new monthly record.
