Terminal operator DP World is set to build a new inland port in Jammu and Kashmir in India.

Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor for Jammu and Kashmir, commented on the commitment, telling Reuters “We will finalise it shortly”.

Furthermore, a DP World spokesperson said the company had a “productive meeting” with the Lieutenant Governor on 6 January 2022 and revealed it was preparing a proposal for the project.

DP World has also recently started work on a similar project in Senegal, as construction has begun on the new Port of Ndayane.

A ceremony celebrating the laying of the first stone at the port was recently held with Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, in attendance alongside a number of presidents of institutions, members of the Government of Senegal, and local communities.
