DP World Sydney has successfully handled its one-millionth container in early November 2021, breaking its annual TEU record and supporting its continued strong performance across 2021.
The milestone was recorded across 345 vessels, at an average exchange of 1,793 units. Overall, this has increased the terminal’s year-on-year productivity by 10% and year-on-year volume by 15%.
“The impact of the pandemic has placed considerable pressure on global supply chains, yet DP World Australia has continued to provide consistent operational performance, with minor delays to shipping schedules,” said Andrew Adam, Chief Executive Officer for DP World Australia.
“With the conclusion of Enterprise Agreement negotiations 15 months ago, DP World Australia continues to lead the market in productivity and remains committed to our customers and ensuring service reliability for the Australian supply chain. I am proud that DP World Sydney has supported the NSW economy by contributing to the handling of a 12.5% increase in volume to date through the container terminals at Port Botany.”
Scott Eadie, General Manager of Operations at DP World Sydney, added “Despite a challenging year due to COVID-19 and delays in the global supply chain, DP World Sydney is proud to have passed this significant milestone. It’s a credit to our entire workforce who have set new records in productivity while working around the clock to keep critical cargo moving.”
The terminal operator has also signed an agreement with OASIS Group to set up a new distribution hub at London Gateway. The agreement will see OASIS Group take a long-term lease for a 108,973 square-foot warehouse which it will use to provide information management services to its clients across the UK and Europe.
Construction for this new distribution hub will begin in spring 2022 and is scheduled to be completed by October 2022.
