A joint-agreement was concluded recently that will see a Chinese trade delegation and the administration of Aden Port, Yemen, using the port as a transit point from China.
According to Yemen News Agency, the delegation seeks to obtain facilities from the port's administration in order to have shipping lines run from ports in China and East Asia to Aden Port.
The Chinese delegation included CEO of COSCO International Freight Company for East Asia and the Chairman of Feeder Service Company.
The move is anticipated to enhance container traffic for Aden Port by using it as a transit point for containers coming from Hodeidah Port, as opposed to using it for the Port of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Aden Port is currently considered a hub port, as well as a transit point for goods transiting between the East and the West.
