Container volume surges at Port of Melbourne in February

The Port of Melbourne has reported a total container throughput of 262,250 TEU in the month of February.

The total container imports at the Australian port (excluding Bass Strait) increased in February with furniture, machinery, domestic appliances, and paperboard all surpassing the levels of the previous year.

Likewise, full container exports saw an increase in volume with hay, chaff & fodder, fresh fruit, barley, and packaged beef all exceeding the figures from February 2023.

Moreover, the Port of Melbourne saw an increase in total empty container movements in February.

In September 2023, the Port of Melbourne announced the completion of a $475 million sustainability linked loan (SLL).
