Chinese firm, China Harbor Engineering Company, has recently won a US$600m bid to construct a new Free Port in Atuabo, Ghana.

In a previous article by PTI, Richard Anamoo, Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority made a statement that Ghana needed to invest significantly more in its ports and inland logistics processes.

As reported by the global post, Philomena Kuzoe, External Affairs Officer of Atuabo Free Port, said: “Construction is expected to commence in the third quarter of this year and be completed in 25 months.”

Container shipping company Maersk has recently made an investment of around $1.5bn to develop Ghana’s Port of Tema, the single largest port project in Africa.
