A Polish bulker carrier has struck a Ship-to-Shore (STS) gantry crane at Puerto Moin, Costa Rica damaging both gantry and the ship’s cranes.

Bulker carrier Irma arrived at Moin on 19 October from Poland and berthed at the port’s breakbulk terminal.

The incident occurred on 20 October as the ship’s cranes made hard contact with the STS crane while in lowered position.

The ship was brought to halt as it made contact with the gantry crane.

The gantry crane did not suffer serious damages and resumed operations, while two of three ship’s cranes sustained serious damage.
