The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and MSC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation, innovation and manpower development.
The agreement was signed on 25 May 2026 by Ang Wee Keong, Chief Executive of MPA, and Soren Toft, Chief Executive Officer of MSC, and is intended to support both operational development and broader maritime sector transformation in Singapore.
The partnership comes as MSC marks 30 years since establishing its Asia regional and local office in Singapore.
Under the MoU, both parties will explore new shipping routes and services aimed at improving connectivity, alongside initiatives to support the adoption of alternative marine fuels, including bio-LNG.
The collaboration will also cover the deployment of technologies designed to improve vessel energy efficiency and operational performance.

MPA and MSC will also work on digitalisation projects focused on improving port call processes, including vessel arrivals and port operations, to increase operational efficiency.
On manpower development, MSC will support internship and scholarship opportunities through the Singapore Maritime Foundation’s Maritime Outreach Network (MaritimeONE), an industry-led initiative involving government, industry and academic partners to attract talent into the maritime sector.
