Saudi Arabia’s ports handled more than 14.53 million tonnes of cargo in April 2026, according to the General Authority for Ports (Mawani).
The update follows the start of operations at Jubail Commercial Port’s container terminal, after Saudi Global Ports began operating the facility under a 30-year concession agreement with Mawani.
The April total included 514,243 tonnes of general cargo and 2,815,001 tonnes of dry bulk cargo.
Container throughput reached 508,801 TEUs during the month, compared with 625,428 TEUs in April 2025. Imported containers stood at 233,586 TEUs, while exported containers reached 145,190 TEUs.
Transhipment containers totalled 130,026 TEUs in April, compared with 132,244 TEUs in the same month last year.
Livestock volumes increased during the month, with Saudi ports receiving 830,688 head of livestock, up 21.80 per cent from 682,022 a year earlier.
Mawani also reported that 1,192 vessels called at Saudi ports in April, while passenger numbers reached 70,752 and vehicle volumes stood at 53,938 vehicles.
The authority also noted that refrigerated transhipment container volumes at terminals under its supervision rose in March by 6.66 per cent to 148,192 TEUs, compared with 138,937 containers in the same period last year.

In April, Mawani added MSC’s Gulf Sea Shuttle 2 and Gulf Sea Shuttle 3 services to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.
The services connect the Saudi port with regional hubs, including Hamad Port, Umm Qasr Port, Khalifa Port, Shuwaikh Port and Shuaiba Port, with vessel capacities ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 TEUs.
The service additions form part of Mawani’s efforts to strengthen maritime connectivity and support Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional logistics hub.
