SANY has released a new fully electric terminal tractor, the STT4501E2-D, designed for lower emissions, reduced noise and more efficient operation.
The model has been optimised for the European market and is available now.
The STT4501E2-D is built on a robust heavy-duty chassis and has a maximum tractive force of 75 tonnes of trailer load.
The battery, with a capacity of 281.9 kilowatt-hours, enables a range of up to 120 kilometres or an operating time of up to 18 hours.
The integrated thermal management system keeps the battery within the optimum temperature range under continuous load, while an additional braking system increases braking energy recovery.
The three-part electrical system has a protection class of IP67 and higher and uses a modern leakage detection system connected to SANY’s remote monitoring system.
“The fully electric drive results in noticeable savings in energy and maintenance costs during operation,” SANY reported in a company statement.
“Especially in ports, where machines are in use for many hours, the optimised battery capacity, long running times and lower service requirements pay off immediately. For many operators, this forms the basis for a gradual switch to electric fleets.”

Earlier this summer, APM Terminals and SANY Marine signed a Master Framework Agreement for the supply of APMT with battery-electric terminal tractors.
