SAAM Towage has completed the acquisition of the remaining 30 per cent stake in Intertug’s Colombian and Mexican operations, bringing it to full ownership of both subsidiaries in a transaction valued at $30.5 million.
The deal, announced in October 2025, closed after satisfying regulatory approvals and contractual deadlines.
SAAM first entered the Colombian market in 2021 through an initial 70 per cent stake in Intertug, with Mexico already part of its regional footprint.
The consolidation strengthens SAAM Towage’s position across the Americas, where it operates a fleet of over 200 tugboats serving more than 90 ports.

SAAM CEO, Hernán Gómez, said: “This is a key step in our growth strategy for 2030. By closing this deal, we are consolidating our leadership in the region. Our goal is to expand our geographic presence through an efficient, flexible and sustainable operating model that stands out for its excellence in an industry critical to global trade.”
