The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is seeking an operator for its Fraser Wharves terminal site in Richmond.
The move forms part of a wider push to expand trade capacity at the Port of Vancouver, supporting federal efforts to double Canadian exports to non-U.S. markets over the next decade.
The 40-acre brownfield site marks the first major terminal opportunity at Canada’s largest port in a decade, offering operators existing marine, rail and road connections.
The Port of Vancouver operates 29 major terminal sites, moving millions of tonnes of cargo annually across grain, fertiliser, containerised and automotive trade.

The port authority is working with the federal Major Projects Office on the site as part of the Government of Canada’s Port of Vancouver Gateway Strategy, which may support the process to ensure efficient advancement of the project while respecting Indigenous rights and safeguarding the environment.
Located at 13800 Steveston Highway, the site previously operated as an auto terminal before consolidation under the Annacis Auto Terminal Optimization Project freed it up for new trade use.
It offers deep-sea vessel access via the Fraser River and an existing marine berth, a fully paved, secured and fenced site with rail and road infrastructure already in place, rail service via CN with nine existing on-site tracks and room for expansion, and highway access, with Highway 99 just 1.5km away.
