The Port Authority of Valencia (APV)’s Ecoport II group has held its half-yearly meeting, bringing together member companies from across the port community.
The event reviewed the energy transition and environmental sustainability initiatives being promoted by APV.
Ecoport II now comprises 38 member companies and continues to position itself as the leading forum for environmental collaboration within the Valencia port community.
Members share a commitment to continuous improvement, best-practice exchange and joint projects aimed at improving environmental conditions across the ports of Sagunto, Valencia and Gandia.

The meeting reviewed ongoing work and upcoming challenges in decarbonisation, energy efficiency and new fuels. Among the highlights was an update on the Seafairer project, which is developing sustainable biofuels produced from rice husks, an approach that could offer ports an alternative feedstock for lower-carbon fuel production.
Attendees were also briefed on new initiatives planned for the second half of 2026, designed to deepen business participation and build further momentum behind the group’s work.
The session closed with a survey of member companies to establish priorities and areas of interest for Ecoport II’s forthcoming activities, feeding directly into the group’s planning for the rest of the year.
