She is currently completing a Doctorate in Business Administration at Durham University, with research focused on innovation ecosystems for emerging sectors.

Matt Beeton, Chief Executive Officer at the Port of Tyne, said: “We’re delighted that someone of Elaine’s calibre is taking the National Maritime Innovation Hub forward into its next phase of development.

“Her passion for innovation and clear understanding of how strong ecosystems drive growth will be invaluable as we continue to position the port and the Hub at the forefront of sustainable innovation.”

“I look forward to driving innovation as we work towards the Port of Tyne becoming the UK’s first Smart Port. By building strong partnerships and supporting sustainable solutions, we can position the UK at the forefront of maritime innovation.”
