The Port of Long Beach handled 842,030 TEUs in May, marking its third-busiest May on record and a 31.7 per cent increase compared with the same month in 2025.
The performance was announced by Mario “Moe” Medina, President of ILWU Local 13, alongside Dr. Noel Hacegaba, Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Long Beach, highlighting continued cargo strength at one of the United States’ busiest gateways.
Imports reached 418,851 TEUs, representing a 40 per cent year-on-year increase. Export volumes rose 32.9 per cent to 109,168 TEUs, while empty container movements climbed 21.8 per cent to 314,012 TEUs.

The strong monthly performance underscores sustained cargo demand through the Southern California port complex and reflects ongoing collaboration between terminal operators, labour and supply chain stakeholders.
During the first five months of 2026, the Port of Long Beach processed 4.05 million TEUs, a marginal increase of 0.2 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2025.
The year-to-date total keeps the port on track to match the busiest year in its history, despite ongoing uncertainty across global trade markets.
