The Port of Huelva has recorded 9.71 million tonnes of total traffic between January and April 2026, up 0.51 per cent year-on-year, with general cargo leading the way as liquid bulk held firm and RoRo volumes slipped.
Liquid bulk remains the port’s dominant segment at 7.28 million tonnes, broadly flat year-on-year.
Within that, crude oil dipped 0.46 per cent to 2.60 million tonnes and natural gas fell 8.19 per cent to 1.02 million tonnes, while refined petroleum products grew 0.83 per cent to 1.82 million tonnes and other liquid bulk rose 5.32 per cent to 1.83 million tonnes.
Solid bulk slipped 3.31 per cent to 1.64 million tonnes. Cargo handled through specialist facilities dropped 14.11 per cent to 526,476 tonnes, partially offset by a 2.77 per cent rise in solids handled without specialist facilities, which reached 1.11 million tonnes.
General cargo was the standout performer, climbing 13.07 per cent to 640,854 tonnes from 566,774 tonnes in the same period last year.

Container traffic reached 43,585 TEUs in the first four months, up 1.54 per cent on the 42,923 TEUs recorded between January and April 2025.
RoRo traffic moved in the opposite direction, falling 15.76 per cent to 10,067 intermodal transport units against 11,950 in the prior year period.
Domestic traffic within the other goods category, which covers fresh fish, supplies, and inland movements, grew 58.98 per cent to 84,842 tonnes, driving a 24.16 per cent rise in the broader category to 142,988 tonnes.
The number of merchant vessel calls held steady at 720, against 721 in the same period of 2025, though total gross tonnage fell 3.48 per cent to 12.63 million units.
