The Port of Great Yarmouth is planning a significant expansion with the proposed development of a new deep-water terminal at its Outer Harbour.
The Southern Terminal project at Port Yarmouth includes 350 metres of additional quay, a RoRo ramp, a heavy lift pad, and around 10 hectares of reinforced open storage.
The expansion responds to growing demand from construction and energy sector contractors involved in large-scale onshore and offshore infrastructure projects.
Great Yarmouth is one of the deepest non-tidally restricted ports on the east coast of the UK. Its current facilities support major developments, including Sizewell C and energy projects in the southern North Sea.

Richard Goffin, Port Director, said: “The Port of Great Yarmouth has been supporting major offshore and inland and offshore energy projects for over six decades, and we are seeing that demand continue to grow, with real momentum now building behind some major projects.
“This development will help us meet our objective of playing an increasingly central role in the future of UK infrastructure, and have a positive impact on our regional and national economies.”
Recently, Peel Ports Group named Captain Susan Cloggie-Holden as its new Group Harbour Master, following the retirement of Gary Doyle later this month. Capt Cloggie-Holden brings extensive operational experience from a 25-year career with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA), where she became the organisation’s first female commanding officer in 2021.
