Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has reported solid operational performance for February, with several terminals recording significant year-on-year increases in throughput.
According to figures released by Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Group and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group, multiple container terminals achieved record volumes for the same period, supported by operational adjustments during the pre-holiday shipping surge and the rapid resumption of activity after the holiday.
Meidong Company handled more than 1 million TEUs during the month, representing a 26.1 per cent increase compared with February last year. The company attributed the performance to adjustments in yard layout based on real-time data and improved coordination of berth resources to reduce waiting time during vessel operations.
Beisan Container Terminal also recorded nearly one million TEUs, up 43.2 per cent year on year. The terminal said it monitored storage trends during the peak period and adjusted berth planning and staffing to maintain operational flow as cargo volumes increased.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Shipping Company reported a 62 per cent rise in container throughput compared with the same month in 2025. During February, the MSC Capella achieved a berthing efficiency of 251 moves per hour on 15 February, marking a new operational record for the company. The terminal also completed 25 berthings on seven newly introduced routes during the month.
Other terminals across the wider port network also recorded growth. Beijing No. 2 Container Terminal reported a 47.2 per cent year-on-year increase in container throughput, while Jiaxing Port saw volumes rise 23.6 per cent and launched its first Mediterranean route linking Zhapu and Turkey.
Bulk cargo activity also increased. Shulanghu Company handled nearly seven million tonnes of cargo in February, up 41.1 per cent year on year, including higher iron ore unloading volumes.

Across the broader port system, Beiyi Container Terminal recorded a 12.2 per cent increase in container throughput and placed eight new remote-controlled gantry cranes into operation. Daxie Container Terminal reported growth of 8.1 per cent and brought 300 metres of newly constructed shoreline into service.
Elsewhere, Wenzhou Port Group handled more than 2.3 million tonnes of cargo and over 110,000 TEUs, while Taizhou Port processed more than two million tonnes of cargo and 70,000 TEUs.
Sea-rail intermodal transport handled by the logistics group exceeded 130,000 TEUs in February, representing a 5.2 per cent year-on-year increase. The group said additional train services and closer coordination between rail and port operations helped manage the post-holiday surge in cargo volumes.
