ZPMC, the largest crane manufacturer in the world, has said it successfully delivered two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes to the Rotterdam World Gateway terminal, following on from its deep-sea cranes delivery in April 2020.

In a statement, ZPMC said the STS cranes arrived on 28 April on the Zhen Hua 26 vessel. The unloading was delayed because the delivery team couldn’t get a visa due to restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This meant ZPMC had to call on support from the after-sales team at the nearby Euromax terminal to oversee the unloading.

The unloading took approximately five days to complete and involved help from a number of parties “in spite of insufficient experience of the unloading workers, time limit and bad weather”, ZPMC said.

The STS cranes are, along with the deep-sea cranes ZPMC delivered in April 2020, part of the RWG’s upgrade designed to optimise resources and capacity, as are its recently acquired fleet of automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
