ZIM launches new South America West Coast-US East Coast route

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services (ZIM) has announced the launch of its Colibri Xpress (ZCX) service, a new premium line from South America West Coast to US East Coast. 

This announcement came on 1 February.

ZCX will operate on the following rotation: San Antonio (Chile), Callao (Peru), Guayaquil (Ecuador) – Cartagena (Colombia) – Kingston (Jamaica) – Philadelphia – Miami, Kingston (Jamaica)- Buenaventura (Colombia – Guayaquil (Ecuador) – Callao (Peru) – San Antonio (Chile).

ZIM said the new independent service will offer an expedited connection with an emphasis on refrigerated cargo from South America, with the fastest transit time to Philadelphia – as a first port of call in the US East Coast – along with competitive transit times to additional US ports.

ZCX will deploy six 1700 TEU vessels on a weekly service with increased capacity for reefers.

The service enables fast transshipments connecting ports in West Coast South America to and from East Coast South America. 

ZCX will also offer transshipments from the US East Coast ports as well as a direct service from Miami in southern Florida to all Latin America trades.

Additionally, it will offer transshipment connections from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean to the Port of Philadelphia. 

ZCX will additionally enable Outstanding Intra WCSA connectivity, offering transit times as short as two days between the main countries in this trade.

This announcement has come immediately after ZIM announced a new service connecting major ports in Southeast Asia and Australia.
