Zeeland Seaports in association with Zeeland Port Authority has announced the development of a new online intermodal planner.
More and more containers are being handled at the ports of Vlissengen and Temeuzen and therefore knowledge of the best route available is essential.
A new website, built in co-operation with UK-based research and consultancy firm Ecorys will give prospective carriers the chance to investigate all available modes of land-based transport their cargo can take from the seaport.
The site provides up to date information on all routes available from the ports of Vlissengen and Temeuzen. The website allows users to investigate all alternative modes of transport and compare travel times, for the best deal available.
Carla Schonknecht, provincial executive member of Zeeland, had the honour to start up the planner for the first time, with the click of a button, at an event hosted at the Mariahoeve, Zeeland Seaports at Vlissingen.
The event gave guests a chance to familiarise themselves with the website and its functions.
The hope is that by using the website, users will see the many options that Zeeland ports already offer in regards to the storage and handling of containers.
Zeeland seaport is home to around 250 companies, and has managed to develop into the third largest seaport in the Netherlands.
