Yemen Oil Ports in Warzone Lockdown

Yemen shut down its major seaports recently after military operations were launched by Saudi Arabia against Iran-allied Houthi forces.

A recent article reported by PTI informed of a rebel attack that saw an oil tank catch fire at one of Libya’s major ports.

Channel News Asia reported a spokesman as stating: “All major seaports were shut down on Thursday due to the rising conflict.”

The ongoing fighting is currently stunting the oil supply coming out of Yemen, raising further worries for the sector after the recent downturn in oil prices.

Ports are not the only entities vulnerable to conflict, with recent concerns that the Islamic State (IS) wished to cause chaos for European commercial shipping; a detail that was learned through the seizure of an IS-owned document by British anti-terrorism think tank, Quilliam.
