XVELA, a cloud-based collaboration platform for carriers and terminal operators, has announced that shipping company Seaboard Marine has gone live with its Collaborative Stowage Solution.

Backed by leading TOS provider Navis, XVELA’s solution will be used to improve Seaboard’s stowage efficiency and provide real-time visibility into terminal operations.

In addition to this, the Miami-based carrier has plans to leverage the platform for a wide range of planning activities, including the exchange of key information and maximizing the effectiveness of port stay operations.

Other benefits of the service, according to a statement, range from improving communications to increasing transparency throughout the stowage planning process.

XVELA will integrate its solution with existing systems, delivering actionable insights to its new partner throughout vessel calls.

Hector Velazco, Manager of Cargo Planning and Operations at Seaboard Marine, commented: “Partnering with XVELA has allowed us to streamline our planning and execution processes to further improve our operational efficiency.

“Having greater visibility into vessel stability and lashing lets us cut down on the number of iterations of our stowage plan during the planning process. Visibility into real-time crane operations gives us the information we need to make decisions such as precisely when to call the pilot.”

Martin Bardi, VP of Global Sales for XVELA, added: “Seaboard Marine is demonstrating its commitment to delivering the highest level of service to its customers by leveraging XVELA to gather the data necessary to make the most informed decisions.

“Through XVELA’s integration with the TOS at an important terminal in Latin America and with the MACS3 onboard loading computer, Seaboard Marine is able to optimize stowage across each of its services to even further improve its schedule consistency and reliability.”
