The largest joint-stock port operator in China, Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), has chosen Kalmar, a part of Cargotec Corporation, to supply 15 units of container handling equipment.

SIPG, which operates all of the public container and bulk terminals in the Port of Shanghai, achieved a container throughput volume of over 40 million TEU in 2017, making it the busiest container port in the world.

As part of the order, which is expected to be delivered in Q3 2018, Kalmar will supply four reachstackers and 11 empty container handlers to the port.

In addition, SIPG also specialises in breakbulk cargo handling, port logistics and port services, with extended business covering warehousing, pilotage, feeder services, freight forwarding and container truck drayage.

These units will join SIPG’s current fleet of approximately 100 Kalmar reachstackers, empty container handlers, forklifts and terminal tractors.

Alex Tang, Sales Director of Kalmar China, commented on the agreement: “We are very happy to receive this substantial order from SIPG for three consecutive years.
