Why Siemens Wants Standardization for Automation

The CEO of Siemens' Crane division, Dr. Christian Koegl, has explained how the company is helping to progress standardization in the port and terminal sector.

In an exclusive interview at TOC Europe 2017, Koegl commented on why standardization was important and what the outlook was like for fully automated terminals.

He said: With the standard interface on the modular building block, you are able to shorten your integration time on site and you are able, afterwards, to extend your system.”

Koegl has also explained how Siemens is injecting new innovation into crane equipment through digitalization:
