ABB Marine and Ports has focused on how ships will be powered in the industry as we enter the fourth industrial revolution.

The diesel engine is being challenged by new technology as factors such as climate change affecting regulations has meant that a shift to liquefied natural gas (LNG) is taking place.

Recent developments have seen Mitsui O.S.K. Lines recieve the green light for four LNG-powered 20,000 TEU containerships that have been under construction with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).

Substantial European Union funding has also been made towards a LNG project by Containerships, a Finnish logistics and container shipping service, to transition the company completely to LNG throughout its logistics supply chain.
