Ericsson, in its position as a leading provider of digital communication services, recently launched new software and hardware solutions as part of its wider 5G deployment strategy, a story PTI reported on.

Furthermore, in February 2019, it revealed a cooperation plan with Chinese mobile provider China Unicom to develop a 5G ‘smart’ at the Port of Qingdao, China.

In the video, which sits under the hashtag #BarcelonaUnboxed, Ericsson and Etisalat zoom in on what they describe as the “unbeatable power of 5G and advanced technologies”.

Head of Global Customer Unit Etisalat, Ericsson, Ekow Nelson, said that 5G is currently growing at a faster rate than 4G and that the mobile network is “a reality, it is now longer a vision, it is with us” and described the current trend of technological innovation as the “fourth industrial revolution”.

In his presentation, Ekow also pointed out that global mobile data traffic will increase five-fold by 2024 and that the Middle East and Africa region is expected to enjoy the highest growth rate.

Echoing those statements, Saeed Al Zarouni, Senior Vice President, Mobile Network, Etisalat, said the company is aiming to turn the UAE into the “fastest and smartest area in the region.”

5G, AI and other advanced technologies will take center stage at PTI’s Smart Digital Ports of the Future Conference 2019 (SDPC), due to be held in Rotterdam between 4-6 November 2019.
