Valenciaport has experienced a monthly growth of 28.95 per cent in container throughput, with a total of 490,516 TEUs moved in September.
Tonnage also increased in September by 13.10 per cent with a total of 7.1 million tonnes handled.
Looking at the year-on-year figures, the growth over the last 12 months is a tonnage increase of 7.69 per cent and a 14.50 per cent increase in TEUs.
Valenciaport experienced an increase in exports in September with a 3.76 per cent increase of 70,973 TEUs and an 11.2 per cent increase of 2.08 million tonnes compared to last year.
The port continues to have China, the US, Italy and Turkey as its main countries of reference for the exchange of goods. So far this year it has exchanged more than 16 million tonnes with these countries (6.1 with China; 5.1 with Italy; 4.1 with the US and 3.3 with Turkey).

Valencia’s role as a global distribution hub has boosted trade with countries like Saudi Arabia by 49.23 per cent, reported the port.
Focusing on other geographical areas, the Red Sea, the Baltic countries, and the Mediterranean countries show the greatest growth in the first nine months of the year.
Between January and September, the volume of containers exchanged between the Valencian docks and the main ports of the Red Sea grew by 73.54 per cent; with the Baltic countries, by 58.56 per cent and with the Mediterranean countries, by 36.57 per cent.
This month also saw significant increases in trade with Australia at 41.32 per cent and South/East Africa at 36.5 per cent.
Earlier this August, the Port Authority of Valencia granted the contract to quadruple the track and build a third rail line connecting the Poniente and Levante docks.
