Odessa, Ukraine - June 28 2018: Odessa's port is Ukraine's busiest. The harbour remains accessible all year round and serves as a vital import/export channel for the Ukrainian economy.

Ukraine’s military has halted operations at its nations ports following the invasion of Russian forces.

An advisor to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Chief of Staff made the decision on 24 February, Reuters reported.

Operations at Odessa Sea Port have been halted, HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) wrote in a social media post.

HHLA operates the largest and most modern container terminal in Ukraine at Container Terminal Odessa (CTO).

“Except for the security staff, all employees are now at home. Their safety is our highest priority,” HHLA wrote.

The HHLA Group has operated the terminal since 2001 and, in addition to containers, also handles bulk goods, general cargo and project cargo.
