The UK Department for Transport has pledged to ensure that London remains a leading maritime centre at London International Shipping Week (LISW) on September 7, 2015, according to IHS Maritime 360.
It was previously reported by PTI that LISW will be taking place between September 7-11, and will lay host to more than 100 events, ranging from flagship conferences to board meetings and receptions.
Robert Goodwill MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, said: “We are ready for growth. London and the whole of the UK is attracting massive investment, particularly into its ports, which is a sign of strength of the sector.
“London is one of the easiest countries in the world to do business with. We have great business sophistication. We are competitive and we will do whatever it takes to ensure that London remains a leading centre.”
The UK accounts for 21% of premiums in international marine insurance and more than US$64bn in committed ship finance – cementing its position as the world’s leading maritime centre worldwide.
