Turkish Port of Borusan installs the Navis SPARCS N4 system
Borusan Port implements Navis Sparcs N4 TOS
TOS will enable more efficient management of container operations at Turkish port
Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation and the global technology standard for managing the movement of cargo through terminals, today announced Borusan Lojistik deployed its SPARCS N4 terminal operating system (TOS) at Borusan Port in Gemlik, Turkey.
By upgrading from an in-house system to SPARCS N4, Borusan Port can more efficiently manage container operations and optimize its terminal area and equipment.
Located at the Gemlik Bay, Bursa, Borusan Port is a major import and export gate into the Turkish heartland as well as a key transit hub for international trade. By implementing Navis SPARCS N4, Borusan Lojistik sought to solve business challenges that include effectively planning container moves and minimizing truck and vessel turnaround times.
Currently, Borusan Port entails a capacity of 400,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). With SPARCS N4, Borusan Port aims to increase terminal capacity and improve efficiency through centralized planning, real-time reporting for customers, and full integration with customers and other ports that are also using Navis systems.
“We chose Navis because of its reputation in the industry and experience with major ports and terminals worldwide,” said Ozgur Soy, Deputy General Manager of Borusan Lojistik.
“We needed a technology that would allow us to use the common language of systems at other ports and automate all of our process to support the future growth of our terminal,” Ozgur Soy concluded.
Navis SPARCS N4 is the next generation terminal operating system (TOS), specifically designed to grow with the customer at the lowest possible total cost of ownership.
