  • Two VTS projects for Bulgarian waterways

Transas Marine has signed contracts with the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co) for the implementation of two Vessel Traffic System (VTS) projects in Bulgaria.

The first project will involve completion of the second phase of the Bulgarian River Information Services Project (BulRIS II).

Transas will supply and install a Vessel Traffic Management Information System compliant with European standards and up to the technical specifications required by the River Information Services (RIS).

This will ensure real-time data exchange between River Information sites located along the Danube River and the main RIS centre in Ruse.

Work is expected to be run over 18 months, with a scheduled completion date set for 2015.

The second project involves implementation of the National Vessel Traffic Management and Information System (VTMIS) project – Phase III.

Transas will upgrade the existing Bulgarian VTMIS in order to extend coverage area and functionality. This will include the instillation of Radar, AIS, CCTV, RDF, VHF and GMDSS subsystems which will be integrated in a single maritime information system.

At phase III, the National VTMIS project is included in priority axes IV of the Operational Programme “Transport” – “Improvement of the maritime and inland-waterways navigation”. Part of the system was constructed in previous phases and is already functional.
