Transas Marine has added a Piracy Information Overlay (PIO) to its Navigation product portfolio.
The Overlay will be integrated into the Transas FleetView Online SSA S-tracking software as well as in Navi-Planner 4000 voyage planning software.
The service allows users to overlay piracy information onto existing data in order to provide vessels with up-to-date information so that they can negotiate through potential danger areas where piracy is known to occur.
The PIO is perfectly integrated so that users can modify what information they wish to view. Piracy information will be differentiated by a colour coded system depending on severity.
Users will also be able to adjust how far back in time they wish to view, in order to filter out old information. This way, active decisions can be made during a voyage in regards to avoiding any risk to crew or cargo.
Data will be provided by Bergen Risk Solutions and is based on intelligence from several recognised and authoritative sources on sea piracy.
Transas was founded in 1990, and is based in St. Petersburg, Russia. The company is a leading developer and supplier of high technology software and hardware solutions for transport, oil-and-gas, security, defence and edutainment.
