Trac-Wheels Locks in 10 Kalmar Tractors for Asian Ports
Trac-Wheels (M) Sdn Bhd, a Malaysia-based supply and installation company, has signed a contract with Kalmar for an order of ten units of the Kalmar TL2 terminal tractor.
The order is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2018.
Launched to the market in November, the Kalmar TL2 terminal tractor was specifically made for the Asia-Pacific.
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, the industry forerunner in energy efficient container handling equipment and port and terminal services, has built the tractor on a tested and proven platform that is designed to save time and money.
It was manufactured to reduce overall fuel consumption by up to 15% by using smart programming combined with a highly efficient driveline.
The terminal tractor also has a specially designed hydraulics system, a bolted rigid chassis, an easy lift cabin and industry leading service intervals.
Trac-Wheels will lease them to its Miri Port and Tanjung Manis Port terminals in East Malaysia in order to further enhance their integrated cargo handling capabilities.
Richard Song, Managing Director, Trac-Wheels, said: "The environmental features of the Kalmar TL2 terminal tractor can further contribute to the sustainable goals of Miri Port, whilst Tanjung Manis Port strives to improve operational efficiency.
“Kalmar TL2 terminal tractor offers more options and features to meet the local specifications and promote overall cost effectiveness."
Teo Yew Boon, Vice President, Kalmar South and Southeast Asia, said: "The order gives us strong confidence in developing regional offering tailored for local needs.
“We see the equipment rental business becoming an emerging trend in Asia-Pacific.
“Kalmar will continue to support the growth and development of our customers with the best suited solutions.”
