Hyster Europe showcased new products and handling solutions for inland terminals and port applications and addressed topics such as zero emissions operations and double reefer handling at the TOC Europe event.

Visitors to the show saw the new Hyster H11XM-ECD8 Empty Container Handler for inland terminal operations.

Hyster has designed the empty container handler for double empty container handling capabilities, even with 40-foot reefers carrying the refrigeration units on the same side.

With a capacity of up to 11 tonnes, the new empty container handler offers flexibility and productivity advantages, supporting terminals in reducing the cost per container moved.

Hyster Tracker telematics can work with fleet management systems and help inland terminals to improve efficiency and control costs.

The range of models in the H8XM-EC6 – H11XM-ECD9 series can allow applications to select the truck that best meets their particular handling needs.

Operations handling single containers benefit from an efficient and dependable truck, while those double handling can make significant time savings.

To support the launch of the new, updated mast design for all Hyster 8-16-tonne trucks, which optimizes visibility through the mast and carriage, a Hyster H12XM-6 was displayed at the entrance to the show.

Operations looking for new, flexible options for driver training, also had the chance to try a virtual reality simulator at the Hyster Europe stand.

For an immersive 3D experience, the simulator accurately re-creates the sensation of using a three-tonne counterbalance lift truck in tough operating conditions, with the same seat, pedals, steering wheel, CANBus and hydraulic controls as the Hyster Fortens lift truck and a VR headset.

Hyster Laden Container Handler – currently in the development phase

During TOC Europe’s annual TECH TOC seminar sessions, Jan-Willem van den Brand and Willem Nieuwland from Hyster Europe shared the latest information regarding the Hyster Laden Container Handler powered by an electric motor (pictured above).

As the machine is in the development phase, Hyster said it expects the container handler to run on a choice of either a small or medium lithium-ion battery.

In the next phase, Hyster Europe expects to integrate a battery combined with a fuel cell.

Once developed, the high-voltage electric machine will help operations achieve full shift performance comparable to a diesel-powered truck in the future.

In the seminar, Hyster Europe provided new information about its patented energy recovery systems, which it expects will increase the efficiency of the truck.

The presentation also explored the future challenges and possibilities around charging infrastructure for electric handling equipment within inland terminals and ports.

TOC Europe also saw the launch of the Hyster Rhine Tour, which takes place throughout June and July.

Hyster will transport a selection of equipment on a barge to different events along the River Rhine, from the Netherlands to Switzerland.

At selected terminals, demonstrations will take place to show the capabilities of Hyster trucks in addressing the specific challenges of inland terminals.

At other stops, customers will be able to view the products on the barge and speak to Hyster Europe, and their local dealers, about the available solutions for their application needs.

Along with other products, Hyster will transport offerings from several of its key suppliers and partners on the barge, allowing visitors to see a total range of solutions for ports and terminals.
