Salvors will remove cargo from the stranded Ever Forward vessel to lighten the load and resume rescue operations.
Following two unsuccessful attempts to refloat the vessel General Average was declared by container line Evergreen.
The US Coast Guard reported that dredging work will resume to a depth of 43 feet and nearly 5,000 containers will be removed from the ship to facilitate the operation.
Works are expected to take place during daylight hours for safety reasons.
The first attempt failed after five tugboats worked for approximately six hours to free the Evergreen 334-metre container ship, yet the vessel did not move. The ship has been stuck near Baltimore since 14 March.
