A bar chart released by Alphaliner shows the top 30 container lines by total TEU capacity in terms of current fleet size and the number of ships on order.
It was previously reported that Maersk Line was the leading container shipping company, with more than 2.8 million TEU in its total fleet.
In the data displayed below, the world’s leading shipping line has maintained its lead, having passed the three million TEU mark, as a result of the ships it has on order to be delivered in 2016-2017.
Despite such a large total capacity, its 2M partner, MSC, could be set to overtake in the coming years due to having the largest order book in comparison to competing lines.
