Deurganck dock lock at the Port of Antwerp is having around one and a half million cubic metres pumped into the lock, and will become the world’s largest lock when it is completed in 2016, according to gCaptain.

In a previous article published by PTI, four of the lock gates for the port’s dock were being delivered and have been built by Chinese steel constructor ZPMC.

The Port of Antwerp has recently been announced as the top hub for transhipment services in Europe with 15 port calls.

A Barge Traffic System was launched at the port in March, 2015 as a solution for container barge operators and container terminal operators to more effectively plan time-slots for loading and unloading operations.
