Thailand in multibillion dollar waterway reconstruction

Thailand's government has unveiled plans to invest US$2.4 billion on developing the country's waterway infrastructure over the next decade.

Investment could begin as soon as this fiscal year.

The plans include investment for ports, bridges and canals.

One notable major project is the development of a port in Pak Bara which is situated in the southern province of Satun.

The Pak Bara project also includes a rail link that will connect Pak Bara port to a port in the province of Songkhla.
