TecPlata, International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) container terminal in La Plata, has finished dredging the marine channels to a depth of 10 metres.
The terminal, with a capacity of over 1 million TEU, is situated on a 40-hectare property near the coast, offering economic benefits to international shipping firms and cargo operators in South America.

Juan Pablo Trujillo, TecPlata Chief Executive Officer, said: “The development gives TecPlata an advantage over the terminals in the city of Buenos Aires, where the channels are limited to 10 metres.
“Our next objective is to deepen the access channel to a depth of 14 metres, similar to the design of the container terminal, to bring Argentina on par or better than other ports in the region.”
Recently, TecPlata became the first port in the country to achieve carbon-neutral status.
