The factors behind choosing the correct terminal operating systems (TOS) for small to medium sized terminals (SMTs) has been examined in a new free technical paper written by Marc Boyer Chammard, CEO, TGI Maritime Software.
‘Are TOS Systems Efficient Enough for SMTs?’ provides insight into what makes requirements from SMTs specific, what makes a system a particularly good fit for SMTs, and what should a SMT be careful of when choosing a TOS.
The paper reads: “SMTs show strong willingness to change and improve, but they need to do so with little investment, and limited impact.
“Not only do they need pre-configured software, but they also need a provider who comes with expertise in terminal management to help spot areas for improvements, and to implement them rapidly.”

Read in its entirety, the paper makes the most expansive case yet for SMT investment in flexible turn-key solutions and business process expertise.
Other areas covered include software, optimisation, how to invest in hardware and operations, what to do when considering simple and robust hardware configuration, comprehensive services and team expertise.
