Swissterminal will take over the operation of three inland ports in the Alsace region to be run through Alsaceterminal SAS a wholly owned subsidiary, in a bid to provide more logistics and warehouse capacity.

In a statement, Swissterminal said a wide range of port services will be available at the ports of Ottmarsheim, Huningue-Village-Neuf and Ile Napolean, including project cargo solutions, rail services, bulk and breakbulk services.

Roman Mayer, CEO, Swissterminal Group, “The start of operations in France is incredibly exciting for all of us in the company. We are very much looking forward to building a bigger and stronger organisation and accelerating logistics activities in France and the tri-border area.

“We have a strong management team in place. Together, we will drive the introduction of more products, further improve performance and reliability in French ports and develop innovative measures to make all logistics processes more sustainable.”

Swissterminal’s takeover of the three ports was first announced in January 2021 following a previous strategic agreement with DP World to improve transport connections across Europe.
