Valenciaport and Port of Ningbo launch MSC green corridor
Valenciaport (APV) and the Port of Ningbo have signed off on a green corridor agreement linking the two ports via MSC’s Jade maritime service.

The agreement moves the initiative from a statement of intent to a structured case study, defining emissions reduction targets across the logistics and maritime chain.

The China Waterborne Transport Research Institute and the Valenciaport Foundation will provide scientific input, covering carbon footprint calculations and related methodology.

The signing was reinforced by the presence of MINECO and Puertos del Estado representatives at the Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum in Ningbo, where the Valenciaport Port Authority President also participated in institutional meetings and high-level roundtables.

The framework is designed to remain open, allowing additional participants to join as the corridor develops.

China is Valenciaport’s largest trading partner by both container traffic and total cargo volume. Trade between the two ports has exceeded 3.3 million tonnes so far this year, up 23.78 per cent on the same period in 2025. Container traffic reached 308,206 TEUs, a 25.25 per cent increase year on year.

The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan ranks among the world’s busiest maritime logistics hubs and sits along key Asia-Europe trade routes, making it a strategically significant partner for the corridor’s long-term viability.
