CMA CGM expands operations via Port of Koper hub
The CMA CGM Group is actively expanding its operations through the Port of Koper, the Adriatic’s foremost port and a key gateway to Central Europe.

With over 20 years of presence in Slovenia, CMA CGM currently employs 102 local staff and operates two direct weekly maritime services: the Phoenician Express, linking Asia to the Mediterranean, and the Bora Med service, serving routes within the Mediterranean basin.

Leveraging strong intermodal connectivity between sea and rail, CMA CGM plays a vital role in enhancing the competitiveness of the Port of Koper, especially in vehicle transport to and from Asia, working closely with leading automotive manufacturers.

Amid the rise of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), CMA CGM and the Port of Koper aim to strengthen Slovenia’s position as a sustainable logistics hub at Europe’s heart.

Both parties reaffirm their commitment to deepening cooperation and are exploring joint projects to boost Koper’s regional trade development.

As part of this collaboration, CMA CGM and the Port of Koper are taking initial steps to establish a joint venture with CEVA Logistics, a Group subsidiary, focused on automotive logistics for the import and export of finished vehicles.

CMA CGM’s services from Koper are operated using LNG- or methanol-powered vessels with a capacity of 15,000 TEUs.

These maritime services are complemented by rail connections to major Central European markets, delivering customers efficient, reliable, and low-carbon transport solutions.

Recently, the CMA CGM Group received a score of 80/100 from EcoVadis, a leading organisation in sustainability ratings.
