Five-figure agreed with Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI)
Strainstall Marine has secured a five-figure contract with Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) to supply stress monitoring systems aboard a new 405-metre floating drydock.
The monitoring systems, Strainstall Marine’s StressAlert HSMS and Torsional monitoring technology, will be installed in February next year to the Qatar Petroleum-owned floating drydock hull number S708.
“This is the first system of this type that Strainstall has supplied and is the largest floating structure that the StressAlert system is fitted aboard.
“We are delighted to have won this order especially as we were competing against strong local Korean manufacturers,” declared Strainstall marine systems engineer, Frank Rose.
This is the second recent order for StressAlert systems that Hyundai Heavy Industries have placed with Strainstall Marine, following a contract to supply their Hull Stress Monitoring System to one of the largest container carriers ever built.
“HHI are pleased to award the order of these systems to Strainstall and look forward to continuing their strong relationship,” said a spokesperson for Hyundai Heavy Industries.
