Last week we resumed our countdown to #SPSC18 by giving you a glimpse of what to expect at the first session of the conference's second day. We revealed the range of subjects that will be discussed, including the search for a more connected supply chain and planning processes.

Today, we can reveal what you can expect from day two's second session – Evolving Business Models: Transformation Solutions. Once again, we've got a group of top industry executives to give their insight.

De los Santos, Hewett, Lievens, Verstraelen and Kosmala will each speak on the effectiveness of implementing total bespoke business transformation models. They'll particularly focus on achieving key industry goals, such as excellence in operation and exploring innovation, as well as smart business strategies, technological implementation and change management.

To learn more about business developments in the industry and to prepare yourself for the conversation around smart business models, take a look at a technical paper written by Chief Information & Innovation Officer at Algeciras Port Authority and #SPSC18 speaker Dr Francisco de los Santos.

In Digital Ports: The Evolving Role of Port Authorities, Dr de los Santos observes that ports are taking an increasingly more active role in optimising operations, and changing business models is pivotal for ports to remain competitive.

In a recent interview, Francisco J. Grau Cavanillas, Managing Director of the Ports and Terminals division at Orbita, spoke about improving processes and where technology will take the maritime industry.

However, if those resources are still not enough, Port Technology has also published a supply chain eBook 'The Path to Intelligence' to mark the event.

Let us know what you think about the session and get involved in the #SPSC18 conversation by using the hashtag on social media.
