Portchain has announced that Westport Moss has joined its Portchain Connect network, expanding the terminal’s use of digital tools to improve vessel coordination and berth alignment.
The terminal will use Portchain Connect to enhance the speed and quality of berth planning with carriers through digital handshakes and secure data exchange.
The platform is designed to streamline communication between terminals and shipping lines, reducing reliance on manual coordination processes.
Through the system, Westport Moss will receive real-time vessel schedule updates and move count data directly from carrier systems.
It will also enable the terminal to respond and counterpropose in real time, supporting closer alignment between vessel schedules and berth plans.
Helge F Instanes, Head of Business Transformation at Westport Moss, said: “By joining Portchain Connect, we improve our ability to coordinate vessel calls earlier with carriers and respond more proactively to schedule changes. This ensures Westport Moss delivers higher predictability, better planning conditions, and more efficient cargo handling for our customers.”

The platform is intended to reduce delays in schedule communication and improve berth window alignment by enabling terminals and carriers to exchange structured data more efficiently.
It also provides a consolidated view of vessel calls and supports secure sharing of berthing information, with the aim of improving schedule reliability and reducing inefficiencies linked to fragmented communication channels.
Thor Thorup, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder of Portchain, stated: “We are pleased to welcome Westport Moss to the Portchain Network. Improved coordination between terminals and carriers supports more predictable vessel planning and contributes to more efficient port operations.”
