STI deploys Digital Twin platform with NextPort.AI
San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI), operated by Hanseatic Global Terminals and SSA Marine, has implemented a new digital operations platform in partnership with NextPort.AI, aimed at enhancing visibility and efficiency across the terminal.

The platform is based on a Digital Twin, providing a virtual, real-time representation of terminal operations.

It enables online visualisation of activities across the equipment fleet — including terminal tractors, container handlers, and STS and RTG cranes — supporting improved situational awareness, performance monitoring and operational decision-making.

STI General Manager, Andrés Albertini, said: “This implementation highlights the work developed internally by STI teams in the use and optimisation of telemetry. Thanks to this joint effort, it is now possible to identify in real time the location and key information of the equipment operating at the terminal.

“This technological leadership, complemented by NextPort’s expertise, gave rise to an integrated solution that strengthens operational management, improves decision-making, and enables us to continue driving a more efficient and continuous operation.”

All terminal equipment is fitted with the Black Dog card, a telemetry device developed in-house by STI’s Reliability team.

The system enables the real-time transmission of operational data to a central platform, supporting both operations and maintenance planning.

The expanded use of telemetry is also expected to support more sustainable operations.

By optimising transport routes and reducing fuel consumption and equipment wear, the platform has the potential to lower emissions and contribute to a reduced carbon footprint.

In January, HGT completed the rebranding of its Le Havre terminal.
