A sinkhole has appeared at a berth at the Port of Felixstowe, potentially impacting operations.

Twitter account @HeavyLiftHQ_ posted imagery of the sinkhole, stating that part of Terminal 6 at the port collapsed on 10 April in the midst of dredging operations to allow the port to take larger ships.

The Port of Felixstowe issued the following statement to PTI: “A sink hole has appeared on Berth 6. Our engineering consultants are investigating the cause”.

In March Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe broke its own record for the most containers handled on a single ship for the third time in two months.
