From January 1, 2017, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will authorise the use of an MPA-approved mass flow metering system for marine fuel oil (MFO) delivery to the Port of Singapore.

The metering system is designed to benefit vessels and provide quality bunkering services, as well improve operational efficiencies and boost productivity for the bunkering industry.

By December 31, 2016, MPA-approved mass flow metering for marine fuel oil delivery will be required on all existing bunker tankers operating in the port.

MPA will also be offering a financial incentive of around US$64,000 for each existing bunker tanker delivering MFO in the Port of Singapore.

The incentive will be given out after MPA’s approval of the metering system.
